Out of Her Mind Kindle Ô Out of Kindle -
One thing is inescapable: All three of the Brooks sisters Sawyer, Harper and Aria are about as emotionally screwed up as any three characters possibly can be The star of the trio, Sawyer, is perhaps doing the best job of recovering from the almost unbelievable abuse heaped upon them as youngsters she's a fairly successful crime reporter with the Sacramento Independent As with the first book in the series, Don't Make a Sound, she's trying her best to come up with solid, interesting stories and gain the respect of her boss and coworkers. There are two story lines at work here, the first of which is the disappearance of 12yearold Riley Addison and near concurrent discovery of the skeletal remains of another female child The second is the work of The Crew, a support group of five seriously abused women whose sole purpose is vengeance Sawyer has been following up on the second with little progress, but quickly, she turns her investigative reporter's eye toward the first Fairly early on, her search reveals that a psychopathic serial kidnapper may have been at work for years.Chapters that switch among perspectives of the various characters (including at least one from The Crew that is, for reasons I won't reveal, quite relevant to Sawyer) keep things moving along quickly amid plenty of action (some of which doesn't make for very pleasant reading, but it's impactful) This time, Sawyer enlists help from sister Aria; at first, I was skeptical, but by the end I'd warmed up to the idea and hope they'll continue to team up in future books. Are things wrapped up in a neat package and tied with a bow in the end? Well, yes and no leaving fodder for the next installment that, I promise, I'll be watching for Till then, many thanks to the publisher, via NetGalley, for the opportunity to read and review this one Good job once again! This is book 2 of the Sawyer Brook’s series by T.R Ragan I LOVE this bookthan book 1 There’sintensity and intrigue in this one As a mother some aspects of the story were difficult to digest been that there’s children adduction in it Ragan develop a very real plot It’s a story that it’s happening right now all over the US and could happened to anyone I was on edge the whole time I read this book which I consider to be a most for any good thriller book The investigation and relationship between sister is stronger in Out of Her Mind The Black Wigs aredeep on their revenges Situations getcomplicated for them I really love Ragan writing and her development of this characters Looking forward to the next book. REVIEW TO BE POSTED 11/10/20 I would like to thank Netgalley and Thomas Mercer for an advance copy of Out of Her Mind, the second novel to feature Sacramento based investigative reporter Sawyer Brooks.Sawyer becomes obsessed with the disappearance of of 12 year old Riley Addison, especially when the bones of a young girl are discovered at the same time In her mind she links the two events and, on further investigation, severalOut of Her Mind will appeal to many readers but it’s not really my kind of novel I found it didn’t really hold my attention until the final chapters where all the action and excitement take place This could be because I have not read the preceding novel, but I doubt it as its conclusion and Sawyer’s past history are adequately recapped here I think it’s due to the shifting voices and perspectives where everything is laid out so there’s no mystery, apart from Riley’s location, to be solved The perspective changes between Sawyer’s investigation, Riley’s experience and a subplot about the Black Wig Crew, a posse of female vigilantes This is obviously an ongoing thread which will be resolved, I assume, in a future novel as it is totally superfluous to this novel No resolution, no real forward momentum it is just there and making a bad point about abused women getting their revenge and self empowering Please, it’s glorifying a plight I wouldn’t wish on anyone.I enjoyed the Jessie Cole novels but this is not a series I want to readof. The second installment in the Sawyer Brooks series is just as riveting as the first Sawyer is determined to find a missing girl What she unravels is shocking All while dealing with her horrifying past T.R Ragan has created yet another must read series!*ARC provided by NetGalley for an honest review. Women wearing what appears to be black wigs have been captured on video at a couple of scenes relating to violence against men accused of committing sexual crimes OhOh! the Black Wigs may include someone we know close to Sawyer The crew members have vowed to get even with the rapists and abusers in their lives Psycho, Cleo, Lily, and Bug are working together to get justice How far will they go?Sawyer works hard to search every clue to find Riley Addison before it is too late I won't post spoilers, but the treatment of little Riley by her kidnapper is heartbreaking Once you start reading you will want to continue nonstop until the ending!Publication Date: November 10, 2020Thank you to NetGalley and the publisher for the opportunity to read and review this book. This is the second book about Sawyer Brooks Sawyer, her sisters and The Crew is back for a second round and it’s even better than the first She’s a investment reporter and when she gets her hooks into a story there is no letting go Ms Ragan is the queen of crazy and dark. The Crew or the Black Wigs as the Press has dubbed them is a female vigilante group out for justice Unfortunately there are not very good at it and things go wrong from the start This installment was not as dark as the first book but the evil is still just as crazy. Thank you to Netgalley and Thomas Mercer books for the early opportunity to read this book After reading the first book in the series and loving it, I was thrilled to be allowed to read the second book ahead of it’s November release The story pulled me in quickly and I had a difficult time putting it down This is the second book in the Sawyer Brooks series Like the first book, the story centers around Sawyer and her sisters The author writes about the drive Sawyer and Aria have to find a missing girl Sawyer believes the disappearance of other missing girls in the area over the last 57 years may be related so she interviews the one victim that got away from a kidnapper during the initial attempt Armed with additional information, Sawyer knows she can find the missing girl Her other sister, Hannah, is struggling with her own trauma and it is impacting her family Though some of the material related to abuse and trauma is difficult to contemplate, I really enjoyed the story and cannot wait to read the third book to see how it ends Highly recommended for readers who love mysteries I would add, like the first book, this book should have trigger warnings for victims of violence.
